Toilet Clog Repair

The toilet is an important fixture in our homes; however, it's never that apparent until the toilet is clogged and can't be used. If your toilet is clogged the go-to tool is the ole plunger, but be cautious when using a plunger because if the clog is past the toilet and in the drain pipe, the use of a plunger can force water past the wax seal or wax ring. If the wax seal is broken then it will leak over time and damage the sub-flooring and anything under that like drywall. The best way to avoid using a plunger is to replace the toilet with a new high-quality toilet with a fully glazed 3" trap-way.

Now on to that toilet clog—if your toilet is clogged, start by looking to see if the shower or tub has any standing water in it. If any other plumbing fixtures like the tub or shower have the sound of gurgling or standing water then it's possible the house drain is clogged and that's a bigger job than a clogged toilet, time to call us. Now if the toilet is clogged and nothing else is backing up then wait a few minutes because in most cases it's too much toilet paper and the paper will start to dissolve after a few minutes and sometimes will flush on its own. If it's still clogged up after a few minutes then try the plunger but use light thrusts into the drain in an attempt to bust the clog. If it's still clogged after that then it's time to call ASI Plumbing.
