Refrigerator Ice-Maker

A Refrigerator Ice-Maker is a wonderful modern feature in refrigerators today. An Ice-Maker makes getting ice a bit less cumbersome than filling ice trays at the kitchen sink and carrying them back to the fridge with the balance not to spill them as if you were on a tight rope. Most new homes will have an ice-maker water supply plumbed already in the wall with a nice box to give it a finished look. However, if you have an older home, you might need to tap into an existing cold water pipe that is accessible.

This is done in two ways. The first is a budget-friendly self-tapping valve, but these aren't the most reliable in time. However, if your budget will allow, you have the option for a solution that becomes part of your plumbing system. For instance, after cutting out a section of an existing cold water line, installing a tee, and running a new 1/2" water line to the fridge, you can install a supply valve there where space allows. Or, you can also cut the wall and install an ice-maker box for a more finished look. The good news is you have options according to your budget.
